Maintenance of car engines and parts could sometimes be expensive. Car owners have to pay for little repairs and changing of engine parts to make the car in good condition and to make it run smoothly.
But car owners do not have to pay all the time especially when their car only needs minor repair. Some of these minor repairs can be done all by themselves like changing the spark plugs. All they have to do is to follow this step-by-step direction.
Tools that will be use to change the spark plugs should be prepared. These tools are: the replacement spark plugs, socket spark plugs, wire gauze spark plugs gap tool which may be optional, anti-seize thread compound and dielectric silicone compound. Take note that the socket spark plugs should have the same size as the spark plugs.
The repair manual of the vehicle should also be at their hands. Changing the plug sparks should also be done carefully. They must let the engine cool down since it could be very hot before touching anything that is in there. Then, remove the spark plugs wire one at a time to avoid mixing with the use of a spark plug wire puller or just carefully pull it.
But before removing the spark plug, they must be sure that there is no oil or dirt that may fall into the spark plug hole. Then, remove the spark plug with proper socket tool and turn it clockwise to be loose. Next, install the new spark plugs by turning it tightly with their hands first. This way theyll know that they are not cross-threading.
After using their hands, to make the spark plugs tighter the previous used socket wrench can be use. Then fit in the spark plugs wire very firm. Lastly, start the engine to see if it smoothly runs already.
